Scouts BSA

Formerly known as Boy Scouts until the official name changed in 2019.  This is the flagship membership level of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) for boys and girls between the ages of 11 and 17. It provides youth training in character, citizenship, and mental and personal fitness. Scouts are expected to develop personal religious values, learn the principles of American heritage and government, and acquire skills to become successful adults.
To achieve these, Scouting applies eight methods of Scouting: Ideals (viz., the Scout Oath, the Scout Law, the Scout Motto, and the Scout Slogan), the patrol method, participation in outdoor programs, advancement, adult association, personal growth, leadership development, and the uniform.
Scouts BSA (Boys) – meets Monday nights at 6:30 pm in the scout hut in the Family Life Center. Scouts BSA (Girls) – meets Monday nights at 6:30 pm in the 2-story building upstairs
Scouts BSA Boys – (Troop 2) Scoutmaster – Dewan Watts @ 601-798-4321 (church office)
Scouts BSA Girls – (Troop 5) Scoutmaster – Melissa Petersen @ 228-216-2343

BSA Venturing

Venturing is one of the core programs of the Boy Scouts of America, serving young men and women. Members must be at least 14 years old, or 13 years old and have completed eighth grade, through age 21. We focus on leadership, service, outdoor high adventure, arts (visual & performing), and team building.
Venture Crew 2 – Venturing meets usually on Saturdays twice a month. We are flexible and work with high school/college-age youth so we live stream meetings as needed and are fluid in meeting dates and times based on our member’s needs.
Registration will be September 11, 2021 at 12:00 pm.
Venturing Crew meets in the Pittman Family Life Center in the Venturing Crew Room.
